How to Customize the System Settings on the Alpha XL
Customizing the settings on the Alpha® XL dog tracking and navigation device is available from the All Settings page. To access this page select the gear icon in the lower right corner of the screen. From these pages (scrolling up and down) you select any of the following:
Updates - Maps, software, and more
The Updates page shows if your map and/or software have any updates available. You can also Add or Delete Maps by selecting the link under the Map icon. You can manually initiate an update to your map and software over Wi-Fi or with the Garmin Express™ program.
Dog Tracking - Tracked devices setup
The Dog Tracking page allows you to change the following (when you have completed any change select Save):

Back Up and Restore
Auto Back Up - if checked device will periodically create a backup automatically
Back Up Now - select to manually create a backup
Restore Now - select to restore from a previously saved backup file from the list displayed (files displayed by date and time created)
Phone - Connect to the Garmin Alpha app
Select Add a Phone - Connect to a new phone
Scan the QR code on the left with your smartphone's camera to launch and connect to the Garmin Alpha app, or you can go to Garmin.com/AlphaApp. Log into the Alpha app and follow the pairing instructions.
If you select the link for Pair Without an App you are reminded that the other connected features require the Alpha app and are prompted to continue - select No or Yes.
Wi-Fi - Connects to Wi-Fi networks
To use a Wi-Fi connection ensure the Wi-Fi - Enables Wi-Fi technology checkbox is checked (enabled).
Saved Networks will be available if you have previously searched for and connected to a network you saved.
Select Search for Networks
Select a network available in the list of Nearby Wi-Fi Networks
If necessary, enter the password and select Done
The network to which you are connected will be displayed under Saved Networks.
Sensors - Sensors and Accessories
You can turn the Tempe sensor On (checked) or Off. The default is Off.
By selecting Tempe Sensor you can also Search For New compatible sensors.
Vehicle Profile
Selecting Vehicle Profile allows you to setup the following allowing the Alpha XL to customize navigation based on available routes and your settings. Select Save after each change.

Speeding Alert - Tone when exceeding the speed limit (select checkbox to apply)
Reduced Speed Tone - Audible alert when speed limit decreases (select checkbox to apply)
Country Border Alert - Shows when crossing international borders (select checkbox to apply)
Route Preview - Shows a route preview when starting navigation (select checkbox to apply)
