How Do I Pause a Recorded Activity?
When recording a timed activity on your Garmin® watch, it may sometimes be necessary to pause the recording. Pausing your activity is the same as stopping the activity. To pause an activity manually, use the same method that you would to stop your activity. When you are ready to resume your activity, simply select the resume option.
For specific instructions on how to stop or resume an activity on your watch, refer to your owner's manual.
Can My Watch Pause My Activity For Me?
Select Garmin watches feature Auto Pause, which will pause the timer automatically when you stop moving. Some watches with auto pause also allow you to configure your watch to pause when your pace or speed drops below a specified value. Below is an example of what your watch face may look like in auto pause. Refer to your owner's manual to verify if your watch has auto pause and to locate instructions for use.
NOTE: Auto pause will not activate when you are performing a Garmin Coach workout plan, A Daily Suggested Workout, an Interval Workout, or a Custom Workout.
How Long Can My Activity Stay Paused For?
The amount of time an activity will remain paused will vary by watch model. To conserve battery power, after a certain amount of time your watch will automatically save your activity. Generally, you will receive a vibration or alert from your watch when it auto saves the activity.
You cannot adjust the amount of time you can keep your activity paused before it auto saves, nor can this function be disabled.
Select watches come with the Resume Later function, which allows you to suspend your activity for an extended amount of time and resume it later. Select the list below to view compatible watches. Review your owner's manual for instructions on using this feature.
NOTE: When using the Resume Later option on compatible devices, features such as Sleep, Stress, Body Battery, and other daily wellness tracking features are paused. It is recommended that you stop and save your activity if wanting your watch to record Sleep, Stress, Body Battery, and other daily wellness tracking features.
