TR-1 Gold autopilot remote not throttling down
The TR-1 Gold autopilot offers the ability to control the throttle speed directly from the handheld remote.
If the throttle can be turned up, but not down, there could be a few different issues.
The first troubleshooting step is to check the handheld remote itself. When a button is pushed on the handheld, a LED on the button should light up as well. If the down arrow button (which lowers the throttle) is press and the LED on that button does not light up, there may be an issue with the handheld remote. If this is the case, the remote will need to be exchanged by contacting Garmin Product Support1.
If the handheld appears to be working correctly, the issue may be in the throttle actuator kit that is installed on the motor. There is a stop switch at the bottom of the throttle actuator that gives the actuator a point of reference as to when the throttle as at its lowest point. The actuator counts how many turns from the switch it has moved to mark or locate an amount of throttle being applied. If the stop switch (button) is having issues or sticking, it cannot provide the actuator with a point of reference to return to the stop position.
The stop switch cannot be replaced on the actuator so if there is a problem with it, then the entire Throttle Actuator Kit will need to be exchanged by contacting Garmin Product Support1.
