Transmit Option on the Garmin GPS Skyview Page
With the release of software version 21.00, a setting was introduced that allows a user to determine which GPS Sources they want to be actively broadcasting on the NMEA 2000 Network. Ultimately, it’s a way to cut down on NMEA 2000 traffic that the Source option doesn’t provide.
To access the setting, select Home > Settings > System > GPS > Transmit.
GPSMAP Series
This series will have the Auto and Manual setting for Transmit.
Auto – Any devices that are set to Auto will choose a single available built-in GPS source and agree to only utilize that one. Whichever devices are not chosen as the sole GPS source will not provide their GPS data to the NMEA 2000 network
Manual – Use this setting to allow specific devices to broadcast their GPS information on the NMEA 2000 network. Setting to Manual will provide the user with a Manual Transmit option that offers an ON/OFF toggle
Scenario: A vessel has a port, center, and starboard multifunctional device and the desire is to have all three displays specifically utilize the built-in GPS of the center multifunctional device
Solution: To accomplish this, set all three devices to Manual Transmit, then toggle Manual Transmit on the port and starboard display to OFF followed by a toggle of the center display to ON
ECHOMAP UHD and Ultra Series
This series will only have a Transmit option with an ON/OFF toggle.
Scenario: A vessel has two ECHOMAP Ultra devices and the desire is to only broadcast the GPS of the starboard display on the NMEA 2000 network
Solution: Set the Transmit option of the Port display to OFF
If the transmit option is missing from the menu, it’s because the display being viewed has its source set to the built-in GPS of the second display
