GTN User Waypoint File Creation and Importing to GTN
A GTN™ moving-map GPS navigator can import user generated waypoints from a file on an SD card. The waypoints created will be at the latitude and longitude specified in the file with the specified name and comment.
- Open Excel or another similar spreadsheet program.
- Create new user waypoints with one waypoint on each row using the considerations below.

- Column A is the waypoint name and has no header.
- Waypoint name can be up to six alpha numeric characters.
- All characters must be uppercase.
- Column B is the Waypoint Comment and has no header.
- Waypoint comment can be up to 25 alpha numeric characters.
- All characters must be uppercase.
- Column C is the Latitude with a (-) for southern latitudes and has no header.
- The format for the latitude and longitude must be in decimal degrees.
- Latitude can be up to two digits to the left of the decimal and up to nine to the right of the decimal.
- Column D is the Longitude with (-) for western longitudes and has no header.
- The format for the latitude and longitude must be in decimal degrees.
- Longitude can be up to three digits to the left of the decimal and up to eight to the right of the decimal.
- The format for the latitude and longitude must be in decimal degrees.
- If a waypoint to be imported is located within 0.001 degree (latitude and longitude) of an existing user waypoint in the GTN, the existing waypoint and name will be reused.

- Save the newly created file as a comma-separated value (CSV) file and then change the name of the file to "user.wpt", as shown below.

- Copy the file on to a blank SD card 8 GB or smaller in size.

- Place the SD card into the GTN SD card slot.
- Power up the GTN.
- Select the "Waypoint Info" button.
- Select the "Import Waypoints" button.
- Select the "OK" button to import the waypoints. Waypoint import will occur in the background.
- A confirmation message will appear after the transfer is complete.
- The waypoints will be displayed in your user waypoint list.

- Power down the GTN.
- Remove the SD card from the GTN.
- Enter the supplemental database card to the GTN for normal operations.
