Exposure Value Setting on a Garmin Dash Cam

The Exposure Value Setting (EV) can be adjusted on your Garmin Dash Cam™  using the Garmin Drive app.

  • This allows you to make the video and pictures lighter or darker

  • The default (Normal) setting is 0

  • -2 is the darkest and +2 is the brightest

  • Adjust this setting (before recording) if your images are appearing too bright, too dark, or dim.

To Adjust the Exposure Settings in the Garmin Drive app:

1. Open the Garmin Drive app with your dash cam paired

2. Touch the Settings gear

3. Select the dash cam within the Vehicle

4. Touch Exposure Value

5. Touch an exposure setting to select it (slide the page up to view more options)

The Exposure Value on Garmin Dash Cams with a built-in display can also be adjusted on the dash cam itself with these steps:

  1. On the dash cam go to Settings 
  2. Select Camera
  3. Select Exposure Value or EV
  4. Adjust the exposure value by pressing the up or down arrow on the dash cam
