Access Navionics Charts and Features on Lowrance HDS Carbon/Gen3 and Elite Ti Plotters

Plotter Software

IMPORTANT: Plotter manufacturer’s latest software updates are required.

Check your plotter’s software under Settings > System > About.
Current Chart Plotter/Sounder Software Update Versions

NOTE: Do not use your Navionics® card to update your plotter software or have it in your plotter when you update!


Chart Layers

Set Chart Source to Navionics (Menu > Chart Options)
SonarChart™ OFF = Nautical Chart – official charting detail
SonarChart ON = SonarChart – high-definition bottom contour detail
Go to Menu > Chart Options > View > SonarChart


Navionics Recommended Chart Settings

Menu > Chart Options > Settings gives you access to:
Colored Seabed Areas (On)
Annotation (Full)
Chart Details (All)
Contour Depth (All)

Optionial Chart Options/Settings

Menu > Chart Options > View:
Shading (On/Off) – Gives maps a textured view
Dynamic Icons (On) - Tides/Currents
Easy View (On/Off) - Text and icon magnifying feature
Menu > Chart Options:
[Navionics] Community Edits (On/Off)

Features Available With Navionics Platinum+™ Charts

Relief Shading or Sonar Imagery

Menu > Chart Options > View:  Photo Overlay (Full)
Transparency: Min = Full Overlay (harder to see chart details) or Max = Less Overlay (harder to see overlay details)

Panoramic Photos

Target a camera icon using your cursor and select the pop-up to display detailed information.

3D View

Menu > Chart Options > 3D

Allows for a three-dimensional view of water contours with the ability to pan and rotate the chart information at different angles.


Navionics Advanced Features

Advanced Features are included with an active subscription for updates on your chart plotter card.
Not all features are available for all models. See our Compatibility Guide for the most current information.

Advanced Map Options

Menu > Chart Options > View:
SonarChart Density – density of contours displayed on SonarChart layer

Fishing Range – select a range of depths to fill with a different color
Shallow Water Highlight – highlights shallow water between 0 and up to 10m/30ft

SonarChart Live

Menu > Overlay > SonarChart Live
Transparency – Min = Full Overlay (harder to see chart details) or Max = Less Overlay (harder to see overlay details)
Minimum Depth – Considered safety depth when creating SonarChart Live
SonarChart Live Tide Correction – Found from Home Screen. Settings > System > Chart > SonarChart Live Tide Correction (On) – Allows contours to be adjusted according to nearest tide station for tidal waters

Dock-to-dock Route Guidance

IMPORTANT: Dock-to-dock Route Guidance is for planning purposes only and does not replace safe navigation operations.

Before using, from your Home screen go to Settings > System > Chart to enter your Boat Settings.

  1. Activate the cursor on the chart panel.
  2. Select Menu > New > New Route.
  3. Position the first waypoint on the chart panel.
  4. Position the second waypoint on the chart panel.
  5. Select Dock-to-dock Route Guidance.
  6. Select Entire Route or Selection.
  7. Select Accept to start route creation.
  8. Once the preview opens, you can adjust your route points if necessary.
  9. Select Keep.
  10. Select Save.

NOTE: Dock-to-dock Guidance will not create a route when the start or end point is in an unsafe area (such as on land).

Plotter Sync

Plotter Sync allows you to transfer routes and markers and update charts on your plotter card from the Boating app on a mobile device.
