Can I see a full sonar image when using a Garmin Intelliducer or Smart Sensor?

An Intelliducer or a Smart Sensor acts like a transducer in the sense that they have the ability to read the depth, temp, and water speed (if the sensor is capable). This information can be sent to a chartplotter.

Using an Intelliducer or a Smart Sensor will not provide the chartplotter with a full sonar image. They will only be able to send over a digital number for the depth, temp, and speed. The chartplotter will be able to display this information in an Overlay Number. Overlay Numbers are customizable, this information can be displayed at the same time.

If a full sonar image is needed, the Intelliducer or Smart Sensor will not work. The chartplotter will need to be connected to a remote sounder box (i.e. GSD 25) and a transducer. If your unit is sonar capable it is highly recommended to purchase a transducer rather than an Intelliducer.
