Downloading Maps With the Alpha App
Detailed topographic maps of North America, color aerial imagery (US only), and detailed maps of the rest of the world can be downloaded for viewing and use in the Alpha® app. Use the instructions below to download maps and manage them in the app.
Downloading Maps
NOTE: A data connection is required for downloading maps. Due to the size of the downloads, Garmin highly recommends using a high-speed Wi-Fi connection. Maps downloaded to the Alpha app cannot be loaded to a Garmin device.
Open the Alpha app.
Select
at the bottom of the app.Select
the top left of the app.Select Maps.
Select Download Maps.
The next screen may initially show only two or three map download choices based on the current view.
Select Show More Map Types at the bottom to list the rest of the map download options.
Select the download icon (arrow or arrows down) to the right of the map to be download, or select the map name for a list of regions. (example below is from Android, iOS icons may differ slightly)
NOTE: Tap the ? in the top right for descriptions of the map options.
