Performing a Factory Reset on a inReach SE or Explorer
There are a few instances where it may be necessary to perform a factory reset on an inReach SE® or inReach Explorer® handheld, including the following:
Not acquiring a satellite signal, during activation or otherwise
Restoring the default settings and erasing user data
Not functioning properly
For a device that is not powering on, try a soft reset that does not erase your data first (done by holding down the X and Down buttons). If that does not resolve the issue, attempt the factory reset.
The steps below should only be used if you cannot access the Settings option of your device. If your device is not suspended, you can perform a factory reset by selecting Settings > Restore Factory Settings.
Factory Resetting an inReach SE or inReach Explorer Handheld
NOTE: Performing a factory reset DOES NOT cancel your inReach service. You can manage your inReach service by logging into the Garmin Explore™ website. See Related for more information.
Power off the inReach® handheld.
Press and hold the X, Checkmark, and Down buttons simultaneously.
The device will power on into Firmware Update Mode.
Slide the SOS slider at the bottom of the inReach to the UNLOCKED position.
Press and hold the SOS button. Reset to Factory Defaults will appear on the screen.
Press and hold the Checkmark button to start the factory reset.
Slide the lock back into the LOCKED position. Make sure that the lock is firmly in place to avoid an accidental SOS.
Sync your inReach handheld on the computer. For steps, see - Updating inReach Firmware and Syncing Account Changes with inReach Sync.
Your device is now reset and should be functioning normally.
