Why Do I Not See a Map of My Activity in Garmin Connect?

Our Garmin Connect™ platform can only display a map in an activity if the activity was recorded with GPS location information. Activities that do not contain GPS information, such as activities created with a vívofit® watch or activities recorded in an indoor profile or with GPS disabled, will not have a map.

My Device Uses GPS But I Do Not See a Map

If your activity uploads to Garmin Connect with no map and you are certain your device features GPS, see the following:

NOTE: Any of the following steps will not affect activities retroactively. This will only affect activities that are recorded in the future.

  • Ensure that the activity profile you are using is not marked “indoor”. Such profiles will have GPS disabled by default.

  • Ensure GPS is turned on for the activity profile you are using. Consult your owner's manual for instructions to enable GPS.

  • Ensure that you have acquired a GPS signal before beginning your activity.

  • Note the initial title given to your activity. By default, the location of your activity will be included in the activity name if it was recorded with GPS. If the name of your activity does not indicate the location name and you have not changed the  Activity Name setting in Garmin Connect, it was recorded without GPS.

  • Power cycle your device. This is done by powering off the device and powering it back on.

Map Settings

The map displayed in Garmin Connect is powered by a third party. See What Map Providers Does Garmin Connect Use? for more information on settings for the activity map in Garmin Connect.
