Using ecoRoute on an Automotive Device

You can download ecoRoute using Garmin Express. Garmin Express can be downloaded and installed at How Do I Install Garmin Express?.

When updating the ecoRoute software, be sure to check the Optional Updates list to download all software referencing ecoRoute.

To Check for Additional Updates in Garmin Express:

1. Click Tools & Content
2. Under Optional Updates, click Other Files
3. Select appropriate updates under Other Files

After you have downloaded Garmin Express and installed the latest updates, safely remove the device from your computer and power it on to allow the new software to load.

To Set up your Vehicle Profile:

1. Touch Tools
2. Touch ecoRoute
3. Touch OK or Yes when the ‘No car profile found' or ‘You must set up your vehicle profile before using ecoRoute. Set up your vehicle profile now?’ message appears
4. Select your vehicle's Fuel Type
5. Touch Next
6. Enter the fuel price in dollars per gallon
7. Touch Next
8. Enter your vehicle's city fuel economy (This information can be found from your vehicle's manufacturer)
9. Touch Next
10. Enter your vehicle's highway fuel economy (This information can be found from your vehicle's manufacturer)
11. Touch Done 

Your vehicle profile has now been created. With a completed vehicle profile, you may adjust your device's route preferences so that it calculates routes that use less fuel.

To Change the Route Preference to Less Fuel:

1. Touch Tools
2. Touch Settings
3. Touch Navigation
4. Touch Route Preference
5. Select the option for Less Fuel
6. Touch OK 

Your device will now calculate the most fuel efficient route when you enter your destination.

To View the Estimated Cost of Fuel to your Destination in Advance:

1. Touch Where To?  
2. Touch Address
3. Enter your destination
4. View the Route Info before touching GO! 

The estimated cost of fuel to your destination will be visible in Route Info.
