Garmin Explore App Overview
Garmin Explore™ is an Android and iOS mobile application that works in conjunction with a compatible Garmin device or a mobile device, and the Garmin Explore™ website.
What the Garmin Explore app can do is based on having a compatible Garmin device, or no device.
Compatible Device With inReach Service
After you download the app and log in with your inReach® account credentials, pair your device (for pairing steps, see Related) and you can then:
Access online device support
Create and edit Contacts
Create and edit waypoints and courses/routes
Download maps
MapShare
Organize data into Collections
Request weather forecasts
Review recorded tracks & activities
Send and receive messages
Sync data to and from the Garmin Explore website
Sync items like Check-ins ( formerly known as Presets), Quick Texts, Contacts, etc. from the Garmin Explore website to a device
Track sharing
Trigger an SOS
Compatible Device Without inReach Service
After you download the app, log in with your Garmin account credentials, or create an account by selecting Create One. Once logged in, pair your device (for pairing steps, see Related) and you can then:
Access online device support
Create and edit waypoints and courses/routes
Download maps
MapShare (Only updated, completed activities are synced with an active data connection)
Organize data into Collections
Review recorded tracks and/or activities
Sync data to the Explore website
Use the phone's GPS for track recording
NOTE: The Overlander® GPS navigator is not compatible with courses. If courses are created from the Garmin Explore app or website and added to a collection, the Overlander® navigator will fail to sync any data until the course is deleted from the Garmin Explore account.
No Compatible Device
After you download the app, log in with your Garmin account credentials, or create an account by selecting Create One. Once logged in, you can then:
Create and edit waypoints and courses/routes
Download maps
Organize data into Collections
Sync data to the Garmin Explore website
Use the phone's GPS to show your current location on the map
