The maximum amount of characters a user data folder can be named with HomePort for us in a Garmin Chartplotter/Sounder
HomePort is a program which can be used to create userdata (waypoints, routes, and tracks) and will allow that data to be transferred to an SD card for use in a Garmin Marine Chartplotter/Sounder.
In the HomePort program, the folders that store the userdata on an SD card can be named with as many characters as is desired.
When transferring this information to a chartplotter/sounder, the folder needs to have no more than 20 characters. When the SD card is inserted into the chartplotter/sounder, any character past the 20 mark will not be displayed and the data will not successfully transfer onto the device. A message will show on the screen that states the following:
No User Waypoints Found
No Routes Found
No Tracks Found
Transfer Complete!
If this error message occurs, return the SD Card to HomePort and ensure that all folders name has no more than 20 characters.
