Registering a GDL 40 weather antenna

To register the GDL 40 in a myGarmin account, the following information is required:

  • Unit ID of GDL 40
  • Serial Number of GDL 40
  • Credit Card information

Once the above information has been obtained, here are the steps to register the device:

  1. Log into or create a new myGarmin account
  2. Click the Register link
  3. Choose Marine
  4. Click the Continue button
  5. Enter the Unit ID and click the Submit button
  6. Enter the Serial Number
  7. Click the check box to accept the End User License Agreement
  8. Click the Continue button
  9. At this point the registration is complete, unless the credit card information has not been entered into the myGarmin account. If no credit card info is available, move to step 10.
    1. The credit card information is needed to pay for the services when they are needed
    2. If the credit card information is already in the myGarmin account, click on the Confirm Payment Options button, then skip to step 15
  10. Click the Add Payment Options button
  11. Complete the payment information
  12. Click the Submit button
  13. Enter an email address if not already filled out
  14. Click the Submit button
  15. Click the "Go to Marine Services Link"
  16. The account will now be defaulted to the Standard US Package
  17. The customer can click on the Standard US link to view information about the coverage area of the package
  18. The customer can also click on the Switch to Premium US Package to use the Premium coverage area which includes roaming
