Follow the steps as listed in your owner’s manual when you purchase a new device for the first time. You will need to download the Garmin Connect app on your phone, and either sign-in or create a new account, then follow the directions that come up to set up the device. How Do I Pair My vivoactive 3 Series Watch to My Phone?

New watch
Replacement watch
When you get a replacement watch, you will first need to remove the old watch from your phone, then you can pair the replacement watch.
Unpairing the old watch from your phone
Choose your phone below to reveal the instructions:
Android
Open the Garmin Connect app.
Access the menu by selecting More (bottom right).
Scroll down and select Garmin Devices.
Press and hold the image of your Vivoactive 3.
Select Remove Device from the pop up box.
Acknowledge message by touching REMOVE.
IMPORTANT: The device will still be paired under the Bluetooth settings of the smartphone. You must remove the device from these settings as well. Your settings may vary based on the model of your phone. Consult your phone's owner manual for specific steps.
Access the phone's settings menu and touch Bluetooth.
Under PAIRED DEVICES touch the
icon next to the Garmin device you are removing.
Select Unpair.
The device is now removed from the Garmin Connect App and the smartphone's Bluetooth settings.
iPhone
Open the Garmin Connect app.
Access the menu by selecting More (bottom right).
Scroll down and select Garmin Devices.
Select the image of your Vivoactive 3.
Select (upper right corner).
Select Remove Device.
Confirm popup message by touching Remove.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The device will still be paired under the Bluetooth settings of the smartphone. You must remove the device from these settings as well.
Access the phone's settings menu and touch Bluetooth.
Under MY DEVICES touch the
icon next to the Vivoactive 3 you are removing.
Touch Forget This Device.
If a Garmin device is powered on and within range of the phone, it may automatically show up under DEVICES. Do not pair your Garmin device from this screen.
The device is now removed from the Garmin Connect App and the smartphone's Bluetooth settings.
Pairing your replacement watch to your phone
Open the Garmin Connect app on the new phone.
Access the menu by selecting More (bottom right).
Scroll down and select Garmin Devices.
Put your Vivoactive 3 into pairing mode.
This setting is found in the menu of the watch that comes up when you press and hold the center of the screen while on the watch face then Settings > Phone > Then selecting Pair Mobile Device
From the Garmin Connect app Select Add Device.
Select Connect it when your watch is discovered.
Input the six-digit code from the Garmin device into the prompt on the phone.
Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the setup of your device. A data sync should occur during this process and your Garmin device should display a green dot from the My Day view of the Garmin Connect App indicating a connection with your Smartphone.
New Phone
When getting a new phone, you need to go through the process of pairing as if it is a new device.
If you still have the old phone, you will want to unpair the watch from the old phone, and power off the old phone when attempting to pair the watch to the new phone.
