Troubleshooting dēzl App Traffic on a Compatible dēzl Device
Your device is compatible with using dēzl™ App Traffic for Android or iPhone. See dēzl™ App Compatibility and Availability for more information.
There are a number of troubleshooting steps if you are not receiving traffic information.
NOTE: If your device was preloaded with full map coverage (i.e. North America), and full map coverage is not installed, you may not receive traffic updates on your Automotive device. See Maps Missing After Updating Maps on a Full Coverage Automotive Device for more information.
Garmin Suggests Troubleshooting in the Following Order:
1. Set up dēzl App Traffic
2. Update Device Software
This device can be updated via Wi-Fi or connected to a computer using Garmin Express™ software:

3. Update dēzl App
Ensure that the latest version of the dēzl App is running on your phone. All updates are downloaded via the App Store or Google Play Store.
4. Restart the Phone and Garmin Device
See your phone's documentation for information on fully restarting.
To Restart your Garmin Device
1. Hold the power button down until you see the message "Power off"
2. Touch Power off
3. Hold the power button again until the device turns back on
5. Re-Pair by Forgetting the Device From Phone's Bluetooth Settings
Clear the Garmin Device from the phone’s pairing history:
Steps for clearing pairing history on the phone can vary by make/model. Consult your phone's manual or manufacturer if unsure how to clear your phone's pairing history. The steps below apply to most iOS and Android phones:
To Clear Pairing History on an iPhone:
1. Open the phone's Settings menu
2. Touch Bluetooth
3. Touch the info button ("i" icon) next to the paired Garmin Device
4. Touch “Forget this device”
To Clear Pairing History on an Android Phone:
1. Open the phone's Settings menu
2. Touch Connections (some phones skip this step)
3. Touch Bluetooth
4. Touch the gear icon next to your listed Garmin Device
- Select the name of the listed Garmin Device instead on some Android phones.
5. Touch Forget/Unpair
The Garmin Device will now be cleared from your phone's pairing history.

6. Uninstall and Reinstall the dēzl App
To Uninstall the dēzl App on iOS:
1. Touch and hold the dēzl App icon
2. Touch the X that appears in the corner of the icon
To Uninstall the dēzl App on Android:
1. Open the phone's Settings menu
2. Touch Apps
3. Touch the dēzl App
4. Touch Uninstall
It can be re-downloaded from the phone's Google Play Store/iTunes App Store.
7. Close all Other Apps on the Phone
Other apps running on the phone may interfere with the connection
Steps for closing apps on the phone can vary by make/model. Consult your phone's manual or manufacturer if you are unsure how to close apps.
To Close Apps on Most iPhones:
- Double-tap the Home button to show your most recently used apps.
- Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
- Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app.
To Close Apps on an iPhone X:
- From the Home screen, swipe up and pause.
- Firmly touch and hold the app, then tap the minus symbol. You can also swipe up to close the app as soon as you see the minus symbol.
To Close Apps on an Android Phone:
- Launch the recent applications menu (this can be done on most phones by holding the button at the bottom of the screen).
- Find the applications you want to close on the list by scrolling up from the bottom.
- Tap and hold on the application and swipe it to the right.
8. Force Close dēzl App
The steps to force close an application can vary by phone model.

On Android, the easiest way is to reboot the phone.
9. Toggle Bluetooth on the Phone
To Turn Bluetooth Off and On Again on the Phone:
- Open your phone's Settings menu
- Open the Bluetooth menu
- Touch the on/off button to disable Bluetooth
- Touch this button again after a moment to turn Bluetooth back on
10. Confirm Coverage
Confirm you're using your phone and automotive device in a traffic coverage area. See dēzl App Live Traffic Coverage.
You will need to be traveling within a coverage area and have a data connection on your phone to receive traffic information. The easiest way to test if your phone has data reception is to pull up a website, such as www.garmin.com, on your phone. If your phone cannot load the website, then you do not have a data connection.
11. Enable Traffic Service
It is possible traffic service was disabled on your Garmin device.
To Confirm Whether the Service is Enabled:
dēzl™ LGV800, dēzl™OTR800, dēzl™ LGV1000, and dēzl™ OTR1000 GPS Navigators
1. Connect the device to power using the appropriate vehicle power cable
2. Touch Settings
3. Touch Traffic
4. Touch Traffic again
5. Ensure Garmin Live Traffic is selected
dēzl™ LGV810, dēzl™OTR810, dēzl™ LGV1010, and dēzl™ OTR1010 GPS Navigators
1. Connect the device to power using the appropriate vehicle power cable
2. Touch Settings
3. Touch Traffic
4. Ensure Traffic is on with the toggle switch
