Garmin Watches That Support Running Dynamics

There are up to seven running metrics available when using a compatible running accessory. These are collectively called running dynamics and are listed below:

What Running Accessory Will I Need to Record This Information When I Run?

The following Garmin® accessories can be used in conjunction with a compatible watch:

  • HRM-Pro™

  • HRM-Pro™ Plus

  • HRM-Run™

  • HRM-Tri™

  • Running Dynamics Pod

Can I Use A Third Party Running Accessory?

Third party sensors may be capable of providing running dynamics using the ANT+ RD profile standard. You would need to contact the manufacturer to verify if your accessory has any running dynamics using this standard ANT profile.

The epix, fēnix 2, and Forerunner 620 display cadence, ground contact time, and vertical oscillation when paired with an HRM-Run, HRM-Tri, or HRM-Pro. These products are not compatible with the Running Dynamics Pod. 

Watches Compatible With Wrist-Based Running Dynamics

The following watches will support wrist-based running power to calculate five running form metrics without the use of a running dynamics accessory. For all six running form metrics, you must pair your watch with an HRM-Pro series accessory or other running dynamics accessory that measures torso movement. For information on wrist-based running power, see your owner's manual.

NOTE: Ground contact time balance is available only with a compatible running dynamics accessory.
