Pairing the VIRB X/XE to a Compatible Smartphone

The free Garmin VIRB Mobile App allows you to control most functions of one or more VIRB cameras using a compatible mobile device. With this app you can control video and photo recording, change video and photo settings, view a real-time remote viewfinder, and view battery and sensor status information.

You can also view recorded videos and photos, edit videos, add G-Metrix™ overlays, and share video clips on social media.

VIRB Mobile App phone requirements:

• Android version 6.0 or later
• iOS version 10.0 or later

To pair your VIRB X/XE to the VIRB Mobile App:

1. From the application store on your mobile device, install the Garmin VIRB Mobile App
2. Power on your VIRB
3. Press and hold the MENU button
4. Select Wi-Fi
5. Set status to on
6. Press OK
7. If desired, change the mode:
   • Mobile app will make the VIRB create a wireless network for your phone to connect to
   • Multi-Cam will allow you to create/join a wireless network that multiple cameras can connect to
   • Join will allow you to join an existing Wi-Fi network
     NOTE: To control the camera using an existing Wi‑Fi network, the network must be set up to allow connected devices to see and communicate with each other. You must also keep the camera and phone in range of the same wireless network to communicate.
8. Connect additional cameras to the Wi‑Fi access point or network if desired (optional)
9. Join the Wi-Fi network on your phone to connect to the camera(s)
10. On your mobile device, start the Garmin VIRB Mobile App. The app searches for cameras and connects automatically
11. From the Garmin VIRB Mobile App, select an option:
    • Use the on-screen controls to control recording or change settings
    • Use the drop-down list to switch to another camera
      NOTE: This option is available only when multiple cameras are connected
    • Use the tabs to switch between recording and playback mode
