Creating .mp3 Playlist Using Windows Media Player

To create an MP3 Playlist using Windows Media Player, you will use MP3 files already loaded onto the compatible Garmin GPS device or microSD/SD memory card and convert them into a playlist. This playlist will be in an .m3u formatted file.

NOTE: On the compatible Tread® Series, zumo XT and some other devices, playlists will need to be created directly on the device as these devices are not compatible with the steps below in Windows Media Player.

1. Connect the Garmin device to the computer and confirm it has gone into mass storage mode or MTP Mode

    • A device has gone into mass storage mode or MTP Mode when it displays the Garmin logo along with an icon that looks like the Garmin device connected to a computer tower.

    • Adjust the order in which the songs will play by clicking and dragging them to the desired position within the Now Playing list on Windows Media Player

13. Save the file in the MP3 folder of the Garmin device or memory card

The Playlist should now be saved in the Garmin device or memory card. To access it, open the device's media player then touch Browse. The Import Playlist option will allow you to import any playlist you've saved to the device following the steps above.

NOTE: The mp3s will display on your automotive device as you have them labeled in Windows Media Player. Contact Windows Media Player support for instructions to label the mp3s.
