Garmin Catalyst Error Messages and Definitions

When using your Garmin Catalyst, an error message may display while in operation. Below is a list of possible error messages and their definitions.

No Laps Detected: Be sure to Select the Correct Track and Drive At Least one Lap to Generate Session Results

Error: Failed to Map Track Shape. Make Sure you Consistently Drive the Same Configuration.

Unable to build a map of the track because of poor GPS reception or the vehicle didn’t drive the same path each time, and video recording never started.

Recover Session: Selected Track Configuration did not Match What you Drove. Make Sure you Select the Configuration that Matches What you Drove.

The vehicle crossed the start line, but the path driven didn’t match the track selected. You will be prompted to select the correct track.

Note: This can happen if the original track map recorded was from a session with poor GPS reception or if you have driven this configuration with an incorrect path previously. The map can be cleared in the Tracks page by selecting the track, then tapping the track name 10 times to be prompted whether you want to reset the track configuration in the next session.

Recover Session: Selected Track Configuration did not Match What you Drove. Try Selecting a Different Track.

The vehicle never crossed the selected track’s start line, but the Catalyst was able to detect a drive in a circuit, and it recorded a track with an artificial start line. The Catalyst will prompt to select the correct track or make a custom track.

Note: This can happen if the Catalyst had poor GPS reception, and it never saw the vehicle cross the selected start line.

The error is unknown, and the video recording never started.
