How do I register my Connext Services?

You may either reference your pilot’s guide to get to the Connext Registration page on your specific avionics installation, or see the steps below listed by avionics unit.   After getting to the Connext Registration page, you will enter the access code provided to you from Garmin Connext Satellite Services Support in your activation email confirmation.  If you have data services (i.e. weather, CMC reports) then you can register when connected to the Iridium satellite constellation.  If you only have basic voice and SMS service, then you will need to connect to Wi-Fi using your GDL 59.  Instructions to connect a GDL 59 to Wi-Fi are also available in your Garmin Pilot’s Guide.


Registering Your Avionics Unit for Your Connext Subscription


With the aircraft outside and having a clear view of the sky:

From the Home Screen, go to:


1.) Services.


2.) Connext Setup.


3.) GSR 56 Setup.


4.) Connext Registration.


5.) Enter the access code.


6.) Press Register.

G1000

1.) Turn the large FMS Knob on the MFD to select the MAP page group.


2.) Turn the small FMS Knob to select the MAP-WEATHER DATA LINK (CNXT or XM or FIS-B) Page. If ‘XM’ or ‘FIS-B’ is displayed in the page title, it will be necessary to change the data link weather source to Garmin Connext (CNXT) before continuing. Refer to ‘Viewing the Weather Data Link (CNXT) Page’ procedure to change the data link weather source to Garmin Connext prior to registration.

3.) If the system displays the ‘CONNEXT REGISTRATION’ Window, proceed to step 7. Otherwise, press the MENU Key. The Page Menu window is now displayed as seen below:

4.) Turn the large FMS Knob to select ‘Register With Connext’ in the menu list.

5.)  Press the ENT Key. The system displays the CONNEXT REGISTRATION Window as shown below:

6.) Enter the access code provided by Garmin Flight Data Services in the ACCESS CODE field.


7.) Press the ENT Key. ‘REGISTER’ will now be highlighted as in the image above.


8.) Press the ENT Key. The system contact Garmin Flight Data Services. System registration is complete when ‘REGISTERED’ is displayed in the STATUS field.

G1000 NXi

1.) Turn the large FMS Knob on the MFD to select the Map page group.

2.) Turn the small FMS Knob to select the ‘Map - Weather Data Link (CNXT)’ Page. If another data link weather source such as ‘XM’ or ‘FIS-B’ is displayed in the page title, it will be necessary to change the data link weather source to CNXT before continuing. Refer to ‘Viewing the Weather Data Link (CNXT) Page’ procedure in the drop-down box below to change the data link source to prior to registration. Otherwise, continue to step 3.

1) Turn the large FMS Knob to select the Map Page Group.

2) Turn the small FMS Knob to select the Weather Data Link (XM or CNXT or FIS-B) Page. The currently selected
data link weather source appears in the page title.

3) If the page title does not contain the desired weather source, press the MENU Key.
     a) Turn the FMS Knob to highlight ‘Display Connext Weather’
     b) Press the ENT Key.
 
3.) If the system displays the Connext Registration Window, proceed to step 8. Otherwise, press the MENU Key.  The page menu window is now displayed.

4.) Turn the large FMS Knob to select ‘Register With Connext’ in the menu list.

5.) Press the ENT Key. The ‘Connext Registration’ Window appears.

6.) Enter the access code provided by Garmin in the ‘Access Code’ Field.

7.) Press the ENT Key. ‘Register’ is highlighted.

8.) Press the ENT Key. The system contacts Garmin through the Iridium network. System registration is complete when the Current Registration window displays the correct information for the Airframe, Tail Number, Airframe Serial Number, and Iridium Serial Number.

9.) When finished, push the FMS Knob to remove the ‘Connext Registration’ Window.

On the home screen for MFD / MFW (i.e., Display Pane) control mode, go to :

1. Services.

2. Connext Setup.

3. Touch the REG Tab.

4. Press the Register Button.

5. Enter the access code.

6. Touch the Enter Button.

1. Utilities.

2. Setup. 

3. Connext _________.

4. Register Connext.

5. Enter the access code.

6. Touch the Enter Button.
