Garmin Connect Fails to Launch From Garmin Express

After adding a compatible device, Garmin Express provides a button labeled "Garmin Connect" on the device's dashboard. When this button is clicked, Garmin Express launches the computer’s default web browser to access Garmin Connect.  This function may fail for one or both of these scenarios:

  • The computer has lost the association to a default web browser.

  • Malware, adware, or third-party software installers can change or break the computer's default web browser designation.

You can resolve this by manually setting the default web browser on your computer. You can find the steps below by selecting your operating system below:


Windows

  1. Press the Windows key + R.

  2. Type Control Panel.

  3. Click OK.

  4. Click Programs.

  5. Click Default Programs.

  6. Click Set your default programs.

  7. Click your web browser's launch icon.

  8. Click Set this program as default.

  9. Click OK.


macOS

The default web browser setting is available within each web browser.

Safari

  1. Open Safari.

  2. Click Safari in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

  3. Click Preferences.

  4. Click the General icon.

  5. Click Set Default.

  6. Click Use Safari.


Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Click Chrome in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

  3. Click Preferences.

  4. Click Make Google Chrome the default browser.

  5. Click Use Chrome.


Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.

  2. Click Firefox in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

  3. Click Preferences.

  4. Click the General icon.

  5. Click Make Firefox My Default Browser.

  6. Click Use Firefox.
