QZSS satellite system started CLAS services

QZSS satellite system is an ongoing project of Japan National Space Policy Secretariat. It aims to provide Centi-meter Level Augmentation service(CLAS) in Asia-Oceania regions with longitudes close to Japan. And as of Sep. 15, 2017, QZSS started CLAS trial run.

Many Garmin products use GPS positioning for navigation or activity recording. Because CLAS is a signal unknown to some of our current products, it can temporarily interfere our products' positioning function when QZSS is passing over.

We are still working on making improvements to our products' software so users may be able to take advantage of CLAS signal and get accurate positioning results at all times.

If your device is unable to receive GPS signals or is showing position drift despite staying under open sky where no other possible source of interference is close by for 15 minutes or more, you can try reboot your device, this should temporarily restore positioning function.

If you are located in Asia-Oceania regions and would like to know when QZSS will be passing over your location, you can find out using GNSS View:

* Currently the existing QZSS satellites that provide CLAS are 193 and 194.
