My Garmin Descent Dive Computer is Stuck in Dive Mode
There might be few circumstances where the Descent™ Dive Computer could initiate starting a dive. If this occurs, the Descent computer will no longer show the watch face but instead will display only the dive screens and in addition the back button will be disabled. To address this, we can reset the surface pressure.
Resetting Surface Pressure on the Descent MK1 Computer
- Hold Power/Light until the watch powers off.
- Hold Up and press Power/Light to power on the watch.
- Release Up once the message "Reset surface pressure?" appears.
NOTE: Wait on the prompt for 60-90 seconds before choosing Yes. - Choose "Yes" to set the current pressure as the surface pressure.
Resetting Surface Pressure on the Descent MK2 Series Computers
- Hold Power/Light until the watch powers off.
- Press Power/Light button to power on the watch.
- Wait for the Descent logo to appear on the screen, then hold the Up button.
- Release Up once the message "Reset surface pressure?" appears.
NOTE: Wait on the prompt for 60-90 seconds before choosing Yes. - Choose Yes to set the current pressure as the surface pressure.
Resetting Surface Pressure on the Descent G1 Series Computers
- Hold Light until the watch powers off.
- Hold Light to turn the watch back on.
- Hold Menu when the Garmin logo appears.
NOTE: Wait on the prompt for 60-90 seconds before choosing Yes. - Choose Yes to set the current pressure as the surface pressure.
Once these steps are completed, depth will go to 0 and the dive will end after the normal end-of-dive timeout.
