Backing up, Restoring, or Transferring Saved Data on Garmin Automotive Devices

Garmin Express allows you to back up and/or restore the locations saved in your device's routes and favorites or saved places. You can also use Garmin Express to transfer this information to other automotive devices. See How Do I Install Garmin Express? for information on installing Garmin Express.

See Importing and Exporting GPX Files on the Overlander for Overlander instructions.

NOTES:

  • Routes/trips will only display on devices supporting multiple stop routing.
  • Categories will transfer to the new device.
  • Routes/trips may not transfer from one device to another.
  • Devices with Wi-Fi update capability must still be connected to Garmin Express to backup and transfer routes/trips or favorites/saved places.

It is advised to transfer any backed up data to a new device before removing an old device from Garmin Express.

First, data must be backed up before it can be restored or transferred to another device.
