Using the Dual Orientation Display on an Automotive Device

Devices with a dual-orientation display can be used either vertically (portrait) or horizontally (landscape). 

Most dual oriented devices are changed manually in the display settings. Some devices change automatically when tilting the device vertically or horizontally. 

Devices with Manual Dual Orientation Display

Dual orientation display devices listed below can be manually changed from a horizontal to a vertical display. 

To Change the Display Orientation:

  1. Touch Settings
  2. Touch Display
  3. Touch Orientation
  4. Touch the desired setting
  5. Touch Save

The screen will now be set in the desired orientation. Repeat the above steps to change the orientation as needed.

Devices with Automatic Dual Orientation Display

Automatic dual oriented display devices use an accelerometer to detect when the device has been rotated and will automatically adjust the display accordingly.
Note: The nüvi® 2360 contains a 3-axis electronic compass to detect when the device has been rotated and automatically adjusts the display. The electronic compass will also detect which direction you're facing and point the position indicator accordingly.
These devices do not have a display setting to change the orientation manually. All versions of devices listed below are included in the GPS Navigator (i.e. nüvi® 3790T, nüvi® 3790LMT).

Devices with Manual and Automatic Dual Orientation Display

Automatic dual oriented display devices use an accelerometer to detect when the device has been rotated and will automatically adjust the display accordingly.
Manual dual orientation display devices can be manually changed from a Portrait or Landscape display to an automatic. 

To Change the Display Orientation:

  1. Touch Settings
  2. Touch Display
  3. Touch Orientation
  4. Select an Orientation option
  5. Touch Save

The screen will now be set in the desired orientation. Repeat the above steps to change the orientation as needed.
