How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

You may be able to manually import an activity from your device if it did not sync to your Garmin Connect™ account using the Garmin Connect™ app, the Garmin Express™ program or the Wi-Fi sync with compatible devices. Requirements to do this include:

  • File being uploaded as a .fit, .gpx, or .tcx file not exceeding 25 MB.

  • File contains less that 99,999 data points.

Step 1: Locate the Activity File

Select your computer's operating system below to reveal instructions to locate activity files: 

Mac

NOTE: If you have a music-capable Garmin watch, accessing the drive on your computer will require some additional steps which can be found here: Accessing the Garmin Folder of a Garmin Device on a Mac Computer.

  1. Plug your device into the computer using your Garmin branded charging cable.

  2. Locate and open the Garmin device drive.

  3. Open the Garmin folder.

  4. Open the Activity folder.

  5. Locate the file you wish to manually upload. Activity (FIT) files will typically be titled in the following format:
    activity fit file name format and date

Windows

  1. Plug your device into the computer using your Garmin branded charging cable.

  2. Locate and open the Garmin device drive.

  3. If listed open the Primary drive.

  4. Open the Garmin folder.

  5. Open the Activity folder.

  6. Locate the file you wish to manually upload. Activity (FIT) files will typically be titled in the following format:
    activity fit file name format and date

Step 2: Manually Upload Your Activity File to Garmin Connect Web

  1. With your device still plugged in, Sign into Garmin Connect.

  2. Select cloud icon with up arrow in the top right corner of the page.

  3. Select Import Data.

  4. Select Browse.

  5. Locate and select an activity file.

  6. Select Import.
