Locating My Lost or Stolen inReach Device
If your inReach® satellite communication device has been lost, you can try to locate it through your Garmin Explore™ website account using the steps below.
If you think your device was stolen, or you have already replaced it, see I Want to Try and Recover My Stolen inReach Device .

Using Your Garmin Explore Account to Locate Your inReach Communicator
For the locate option to work, it requires the inReach device to be active and powered on with a clear view of the sky and enough battery power to stay on.
Log in to the Garmin Explore™ website.
Select Map.
Select
next to the user (example shown below).
Select Locate.
Select Request.
Important Notes
You may have to wait up to 20 minutes for a response.
Your request will continue trying to obtain a location for up to five days.
If located, a new waypoint will appear on the map indicated by
. See below for an example.
When you click on this waypoint, a bubble will display the date and time of when the location was obtained. If you click MORE, it will display the coordinates.
You may need to click the + next to the inReach user's name on the map to see the waypoint. You may also need to zoom in to unclutter your view.
I Want to Try and Recover My Stolen inReach Device
If you think your device is missing as a result of criminal activity, we suggest contacting your local law enforcement office through their non-emergency phone number to file a police report. In some cases, if the device was lost, it may be turned in to a police department. We suggest you inquire with them to determine if a device like yours has been turned in or recovered.
When appropriate conditions are met, Garmin will assist law enforcement with an investigation regarding stolen, lost, or recovered property. Law enforcement may request assistance by visiting Law Enforcement Inquiries.
What If I Still Cannot Find My Lost or Stolen inReach Device?
Garmin Services Billing can assist with locking your device's IMEI to prevent activation. We can also discuss the best option for your active plan given your specific situation.
I Purchased a Replacement Device, Can I Transfer the Service From My Previous inReach?
Yes, you can transfer the service from your previous inReach to your new inReach. To do this, follow the steps outlined in Transferring Existing inReach Service to Another inReach Device.
Once the service is transferred, contact Garmin Services Billing with the link above to have the lost or stolen device's IMEI locked.
What If I Found My Lost inReach Device?
If you did not replace the device or have our billing team lock the device's IMEI, there are no actions you need to take.
If you already replaced the device, you have a couple options listed below:
NOTE: If you had Garmin Services Billing lock the found device's IMEI, you need to contact them first to remove this lock.

Garmin respects and protects the privacy and safety of all our customers. We are unable to share registration information with anyone besides the registered owner. We are also unable to provide your information to the registered owner. See Garmin's official Privacy Policy .
If you found an inReach device, we suggest you turn it into local law enforcement or the front desk of the establishment it was left at or closest to.
