PC/Windows:
- Connect the Garmin device into the computer
- Press the Windows key + E
- Click This PC (Windows 10 & 11 only)
- Open the Garmin drive
- Open Internal Storage or Internal Garmin Storage (not all devices require this step)
- Open the Voice folder
- The Voice folder is located in the Garmin folder on some devices.
- Delete any unwanted language files
- Go back to the previous folder
- Follow steps 6-8 for the Text, Keyboards, and Help folders (Keep all files beginning with “en”)
- Open the GPX folder
- Delete the Archive folder (this folder contains the Trip Log information, backup this data before deleting if it is needed)
- Disconnect the Garmin GPS device from the computer
- Allow the GPS device to boot up to the main menu
- Reconnect the GPS device to the computer
- Open Garmin Express™ and attempt the update again
Mac:
- Connect the Garmin device into the computer
- Open the Garmin drive
- Open the Voice folder
- The Voice folder is located in the Garmin folder on some devices.
- Delete any unwanted language files
- Go back to the previous folder
- Follow steps 6-8 for the Text, Keyboards, and Help folders (Keep all files beginning with “en”)
- Open the GPX folder
- Delete the Archive folder (this folder contains the Trip Log information, backup this data before deleting if it is needed)
- Empty the trash on the Mac
- Eject the device and disconnect the cable
- Turn the device on and allow the GPS device to boot up to the main menu
- Reconnect the GPS device to the computer
- Open Garmin Express™ and attempt the update again
