O-Ring Replacement Instructions for NEO Series Smart Trainers

If you are experiencing a grunting or a whump-whump type of sound coming from your Tacx NEO series trainer while you ride you will likely need to replace the O-ring found behind the NEO disc. This FAQ is designed to help you complete steps for the following Tacx smart trainers:

  • Tacx® NEO 

  • Tacx® NEO 2 

  • Tacx® NEO 2T


Tools Required:

  • S0057 O-ring

  • NEO Disc Extractor

  • 4mm and 5mm Allen Key

  • Adjustable Wrench


O-Ring Replacement Instructions:

  1. Remove the Disc using the NEO Disc Extractor.

    • See first 1:30 of video below

  2. Once the disc has been removed,  you will have access to the O-ring located at the base of the axle hub. The O-ring is circled in the photo below in red.

    • NEO Users: place the O-ring in front of the preinstalled ring

    • NEO 2 and 2T Users: remove existing O-ring and replace it with the new O-ring

  3. To further prevent noise, ensure the size 4 Allen bolts shown below are tightened to 10 Nm.

    • 6 bolts on the internal coil housing

      6 bolts on internal coil housing

    • 6 bolts on the trainer's non-drive side

      6 Bolts on Non drive side of NEO

  4. Reinstall the disc.

    • See 1:30 - 2:35 of video below.

  5. Tighten the 6 bolts on the disc to 10Nm.
