How to Stop Chart Installer From Opening All the Time

Some users may want the Chart Installer not to open automatically any time a USB device is connected to the machine. Follow the instructions below to remove the NavService process from startup.

After disabling NavService, the Chart Installer needs to be actively launched using the application icon/shortcut or the My Card section of the Navionics website.

Windows

  1. Select Start/Apps button in the lower left corner of your screen 
  2. In the search box, type “msconfig”
  3. The System Configuration window will appear
  4. Select Startup tab
  5. Search for NavService entry
  6. Disable it
  7. Select Apply and exit

Mac

  1. Go in Applications
  2. Select Chart Installer folder
  3. Find the file titled NavService
  4. Rename this file
  5. Check on pc for: ./Users/ <user name > /Library/LaunchAgents/org.Navionics.NavService.plist
  6. Remove .plist file
