Troubleshooting Battery Charging Issues on an Approach Handheld or Laser Range Finder
If an Approach® handheld or laser rangefinder is not charging, it is possible that there are connection problems with charging cable, or the AC adapter may have failed.
Troubleshooting the Connection
There are a couple of things that can be checked when attempting to charge the Approach device.
- Disconnect and reattach the charging cable
- Charge Approach device through a different power source, such as a computer
- Make sure the software is up to date
- For information on updating the device, see - Update Golf Courses and Device Software on an Approach
- Leave the Approach plugged into the charger for up to two hours
When charging you should see a battery icon displayed on the screen and the message: Garmin.com/courses.
NOTE: The Approach G10 use charging clip. As an additional troubleshooting step, clean the contacts on the charging clip and the Approach device. To clean the contacts, use a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. Allow the contacts to dry before testing the connection again.
If the battery icon does not appear on the screen and the Approach is still not taking a charge, the charging cable may need to be replaced.
