Setting up the VIRB Remote Feature on compatible GPSMAP 64 and GPSMAP 65 Devices
The VIRB® action cameras can be controlled remotely by many Garmin handheld and wearable devices1 using ANT+ wireless technology. This article is for the following outdoor handheld devices:
- GPSMAP® 64s, 64sc, 64st, 64sx, and 64csx
- GPSMAP® 65 series
To do this, you need to add the VIRB Remote option to your device's menu, and then pair the VIRB camera to your device. Steps for both can be found below.
Adding VIRB Remote to the Garmin Device
- Press Menu twice to access the Main Menu
- Select VIRB Remote if present, otherwise proceed to step 3
- Press Menu once more
- Select Change Item Order
- Select Add Page
- Select VIRB Remote
The VIRB Remote option should appear on the device's main menu. The device can now be paired to the VIRB.

Note: Some manuals refer to the Garmin device as such, while others refer to it as a remote control device or ANT+ device.

- VIRB X/XE
- VIRB Ultra
- VIRB 360
Up to 6 VIRB action cameras can be controlled by one remote at a time. For more information on setting up the VIRB for remote use, refer to its owner's manual.
