Using Synchronization in XMap 8 Enterprise
During installation, XMap® 8 desktop software automatically places a copy of SQL LocalDB on the computer as the default location for the XMap 8 software to store GIS data. SQL LocalDB is a fully effective and proficient means of storing GIS data for users who have no need to share their data through XMap synchronization.
Note: XMap software has been discontinued. Support is now provided through documentation in the Support Center.
SQL LocalDB does not run as a service on the computer it is installed to. End-users sent subscription files that point to a database in SQL LocalDB will not be able to access the data.
Synchronization in XMap 8 Enterprise software requires that the GIS data be stored in a dedicated SQL server or an installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 installed to the local computer.
If you do not have a dedicated SQL server you can download a free version of SQL Server 2012 Express directly from Microsoft at the link below.
