- See Power/Charging Issues with the Garmin Catalyst or Remote Cam for information
Ensure the Device is Recording Video
Make sure the SD card is inserted all the way into the Garmin Catalyst.
It is easiest to use a fingernail to press the SD card into the slot under the back panel or side of the unit until a click is heard.
Ensure the Remote Cam is plugged in with the included camera cable (longer 11.5 foot cable) and the LED at the bottom of the Remote Cam glows a solid red.
Using any other USB cable could cause power issues and prevent the video data from being sent to the memory card.
The shorter cable is for data transfer on a computer.
See the video below for instructions to properly install the Garmin Catalyst and Remote Cam.
- Ensure you are using the included Remote Cam to record video. The Garmin Dash Cam Mini and Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 are not compatible.
Check SD Card Compatibility
The Garmin Catalyst Remote Cam may not be able to record footage on incompatible SD cards.
Ensure There are No Special Characters in the Driver Profile Name
- When creating a driver profile name, avoid using these characters: \ / * : ? < > " |
Although the software will allow you to save a profile name with special characters, they disrupt the path for storing video files in the Catalyst’s Android file system.
This results in no video being saved to the memory card.
Ensure the Device is Up to Date
The software of your Garmin Catalyst can be updated using either Wi-Fi or the Garmin Express™ application.
See Wireless Track and Software Update Instructions for instructions to update with Wi-Fi.
See Updating Software with Garmin Express for instructions to update with Garmin Express.
Format or Replace the SD Card
The SD card may need to be formatted to record more footage if it contains corrupted data.
See Formatting the Memory Card for instructions.
You may need to replace the card if the Garmin Catalyst still shows no videos recorded after formatting the card or if the card cannot be formatted.
See SD Memory Card Compatibility for the Garmin Catalyst for information about recommended card sizes.
Contact Product Support if the Garmin Catalyst Remote Cam still fails to record any video.
