The Touchscreen of My Garmin Outdoor Handheld is Not Working

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms with your touchscreen handheld, a screen calibration may be needed.

  • Unable to select menu items
  • Opening the wrong menu items
  • Cannot select items around the edge of the touchscreen
  • Cannot accurately select a position on the map
  • Area under your finger is not selected when using the touchscreen

Calibrating the Touchscreen

If the touchscreen on your outdoor handheld is inaccurate or not responding, then a calibration should be performed. There are two ways to calibrate the touchscreen depending on how it is responding.

Responsive Touchscreen

  1. From the main menu, touch Setup.
  2. Touch Display.
  3. Touch Calibrate Screen.
  4. Touch each dot as they appear.
  5. Touch OK once the Calibration Complete message appears.

Unresponsive Touchscreen

If the touchscreen is completely inoperable, you may need to manually calibrate the touchscreen.

  1. Power the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power button until Press the dot message appears (about 60 seconds).
  3. Touch each dot as they appear.
  4. Touch OK once the Calibration Complete message appears.

The touchscreen is now calibrated and should function properly.
