Garmin Running Power App Requirements When Accounting for Wind

Garmin running power does not require a mobile phone to be present during your run to account for wind conditions. Compatible watches will store the latest weather conditions from your smartphone and use those conditions to account for wind during your run. For more details, see - How Does Wind Factor in When Using the Garmin Running Power Apps?.

To ensure your watch has recent weather information, make sure it has been within range of your paired smartphone for at least 10 minutes within the hour before you start your run. If the weather information is too old, then running power will be computed without taking into account wind conditions. When viewing your activity post-run in your Garmin Connect™ account, there is a field that indicates whether wind power was enabled for the run or not. You can also disable accounting for wind within the app or watch settings if desired. For instructions, see - Accessing Settings for Garmin Running Power Apps.
