Update Fails to Install on a Honda Navigation System

When installing a navigation update in your Honda vehicle with Garmin navigation you may get an error message indicating the update failed to install. When this happens, retry installing the update. Follow the steps below to resolve the error if you receive the error message after retrying the update.

1. Ensure you are using a 16 GB USB flash drive for the update.

   • The Honda Navigation System update requires a 16GB USB flash drive. Using a USB flash drive smaller or larger than 16GB can cause the map update process to be unsuccessful.

2. Format the USB flash drive.

   • See  Formatting a USB Drive for a Honda Navigation System for instructions on formatting the flash drive. 

3. Confirm you are using the correct USB port.
   • The same USB port used to export the device file.

4. Try another USB flash drive.

   • An incompatible USB flash drive can cause the map update to fail. You will want to try another 16GB USB flash drive to install the update. 

5. Reinstall the map update.
