Reassigning an Additional inReach Device to Another User or Yourself

If you have multiple users on your Garmin Explore™ account, you can reassign devices to different users on your account. 

If you have only one inReach user on your Garmin Explore account with a Personal inReach® subscription plan and have questions about adding additional devices, see - Adding an inReach Device to an Existing Personal Account.

IMPORTANT: Due to recent changes in privacy laws, inReach subscribers with a Personal Freedom or Annual plan can no longer add new users to their Garmin Explore account. At this time, inReach subscribers with these personal subscription plans that currently have multiple users will retain those existing sub users in their Garmin Explore account; however, the ability to add any new users has been removed.


Reassigning an inReach Device to Another User

If you have existing sub users on your Garmin Explore website account:

  1. Log in to the Garmin Explore website.
  2. Select Account.
  3. Select View Devices.
  4. Select Reassign.
  5. Select a User from the dropdown.
  6. Select Assign.
  7. Reset the reassigned inReach.
    NOTE: See your inReach device owner's manual for reset steps.
  8. Sync the inReach with the assigned user's account.

Assigning an Active inReach Device to Yourself

Individual users may have more than one inReach device on your Garmin Explore account with an active inReach personal subscription plan.

However, you may only assign one active inReach device for use at any time.

If you have more than one inReach device with an active inReach personal subscription plan, you can choose the inReach device that is assigned to you for active use.

  1. Log in to the Garmin Explore website.
  2. Select Plans & Devices.
  3. Select the More button for the unassigned inReach device you would like to assign for active personal use.
  4. Confirm that this device is currently unassigned; you should see ASSIGNED To Unassigned.
  5. Select the Reassign button.
  6. In the Assign Device pop-up that appears, select yourself as the user.
  7. Select the Assign button.
  8. If you already have a device assigned to you, the pop-up will ask you to confirm the reassign to the selected inReach device.
  9. Select Confirm.
  10. You should now Sync your assigned inReach device.
