How to Locate the Serial Number or Unit ID on an Automotive Device

Every Garmin automotive device will have a unique serial number and Unit ID number to identify it. The serial number is a combination of 8 to 9 letters or numbers, without spaces or dashes, externally printed on the device.

The location of the serial number varies by model.

Check the Following Possible Locations:


On the Back or Bottom of the Device:

 


If There is a Mounting Bracket on the Back of the Device, you may have to Remove it to Locate the Serial Number. See the Video Below for an Example of This:


Under the Magnetic Mounting Bracket:


Under the Battery Door or Inside the Battery Compartment:

 


On Devices with a Flip-Up Antenna on the Back, it is Under the Antenna:

 


On Dash Cams and the Garmin Speak Devices, it is on the Bottom or Side of the Device:

 


On the Garmin PowerSwitch, it is on the Side of the Device Under the Front Cover:


On dezl Headsets, it is on the inside of the headset band when it's fully extended:

 



On the Original Box:


The Unit ID is a 10 digit number found internally when viewing the system information on the device. This can typically be found in the Device Settings on the About screen.  Check your Owner's Manual for instructions.
