Blinking Lights on a Volvo Gateway

The Volvo Gateway is used for the GHP 10V to allow communication with the Volvo steering system installed on the boat. The Volvo Gateway has light indicators to help troubleshoot issues. Each light will represent the cable that is closest to it. When interpreting the blink codes below, assume the gateway to be oriented so that the cables are on the bottom. See Volvo Penta Gateway Installation Manual for installation instructions.

The blue numbered circles indicate the LED locations

  • The Right LED light should be consistently blinking red when the Volvo side is receiving and transmitting valid autopilot data. The Right LED will also blink upon bootup

  • The Right LED will flash twice, then stop flashing in a repeating pattern, when the unit is receiving Volvo Multilink data, but no Autopilot data

  • The Right LED will flash three times, then stop flashing in a repeating pattern, when the unit is receiving Autopilot data, but no Volvo Multilink data

Troubleshooting

Verify that cable installation to the correct ports. All cables are labeled for easy identification. When adding an autopilot to the Volvo EVC, it must have an auto-configuration performed on the Volvo EVC system. Contact Volvo for support.
