"Wallet is Empty" Message On My Garmin Pay Watch

Until you set up the Garmin Pay™ wallet you will see the message "Wallet is empty" when accessing Garmin Pay on your compatible watch. For instructions on how to set up Garmin Pay, refer to your owner's manual.

If you have successfully completed the setup of your Garmin Pay  wallet using the Garmin Connect™ app but receive the "Wallet is empty" message on your watch, try the following troubleshooting steps.


1. Check Your Garmin Pay Wallet in the Garmin Connect App

Verify that your Garmin Pay wallet shows an enabled card for your Garmin watch by following these steps:

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Access the menu by selecting More (bottom right).

  3. Select Garmin Devices.

  4. Select your Garmin watch.

  5. Select Garmin Pay.

  6. Verify you see your card(s) beneath ENABLED

    • If you do not see your card(s) listed, select Add Card and follow the steps to complete the setup.

    • If you do see your card(s) listed, proceed to the next troubleshooting step below.


2. Restart Your Garmin Watch and Mobile Device, Then Sync with Garmin Connect

Restart both your watch and your paired smartphone by turning them off and back on. If you are unsure how to turn off your Garmin watch, refer to your owner's manual.

Once both devices are back on, open the Garmin Connect app and sync your watch by touching the blue arrows in a circle in the top right. After the sync is complete, check your watch to see if your card appears in your Garmin Pay wallet. If it does not, proceed to the next troubleshooting step below.


3. Remove Your Garmin Pay Wallet, Then Set It up Again

Removing everything from your Garmin Pay wallet and setting it up again may resolve this issue. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Access the menu by selecting More (bottom right).

  3. Select Garmin Pay.

  4. Select the card(s) listed, then scroll to the bottom and select Remove Card.

  5. After removing all cards, select Get Started.

  6. Follow the steps to complete the setup.

  7. Sync your watch with the Garmin Connect app.

Once the sync is complete, check your watch to see if your card appears in your Garmin Pay wallet. If it does not, proceed to the next troubleshooting step below.


4. Remove and Add Back Your Garmin Watch in the Garmin Connect App

To remove and add back (also known as unpair and repair) your watch in the Garmin Connect app, follow these instructions: Instructions to Remove and Add a Device in the Garmin Connect App. After you have successfully unpaired and repaired your watch to your phone, you will need to set up your Garmin Pay wallet again by following these steps:

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Access the menu by selecting More (bottom right).

  3. Select Garmin Devices.

  4. Select your Garmin watch.

  5. Select Garmin Pay.

  6. Select Add Card.

  7. Follow the steps to complete the setup.

  8. Sync your watch with the Garmin Connect app.
