Garmin Marine Network Chart Sharing Examples

Marine Network Chart Sharing Examples

  • Devices with different preloaded built-in charts will not share charting between devices. See Example #1

  • Devices preloaded with built-in charts will not share their preloaded content to other networked devices, unless the other devices do not have preloaded built-in charts. See example #2

  • Devices that are networked with two different types of charts (LakeVu or BlueChart) and one of the devices has an updated built-in chart loaded onto a micro/SD card will not share the updated chart information to the other device.  See Example #3

  • Devices networked that have the same type of preloaded built-in chart (BlueChart and BlueChart ) will share the updated charting to the other device. See Example #4

  • Devices sharing a preprogrammed chart card will share charting between devices. See example #5

CHART EXAMPLE #1: ECHOMAP Plus 94sv networked to a ECHOMAP UHD 73cv, these two devices have two different types of preloaded built-in charts in them.

    • ECHOMAP Plus 94sv has preloaded built-in BlueChart charts in it

    • ECHOMAP Plus 73cv has preloaded built-in LakeVu charts in it

      • The charts will not share between the 94sv and the 73cv because they are two different built-in charts

CHART EXAMPLE #2: ECHOMAP Plus 94sv networked to a ECHOMAP UHD 72cv, these two devices have two different types of preloaded built-in charts in them

    • ECHOMAP Plus 94sv has preloaded built-in BlueChart charts

    • ECHOMAP Plus 72cv has preloaded built-in Worldwide base charts (No contours)

      • The 94sv preloaded built-in chart will share its preloaded built-in chart with the 72sv because the Worldwide base map allows devices within the same device family to share preloaded built-in charts across the Garmin Marine Network

CHART EXAMPLE #3: ECHOMAP Plus 94sv with an updated built-in chart loaded on a micro/SD card networked to a ECHOMAP UHD 73cv.

    • The 94sv has an updated BlueChart loaded onto a micro/SD card.  The updated chart is specifically associated to the 94sv

    • The 73cv has preloaded built-in LakeVu chart

      • The updated BlueChart will not share to the 73cv, because the two devices have different types of built-in charts

NOTE: An updated built-in chart is associated to a specific device and is typically downloaded from Garmin Express or ActiveCaptain.

CHART EXAMPLE #4: ECHOMAP Plus 94sv with an updated built-in chart loaded onto a micro/SD card networked to a ECHOMAP UHD 74cv.

    • The 94sv has an updated BlueChart loaded onto a micro/SD card

    • The 74cv has a preloaded built-in BlueChart

      • Both devices (94sv and 74cv) have the same type of chart preloaded into them (BlueChart)

      • The updated built -in chart will be shared from the 94sv to the 74cv because they both have the same type of charting installed (BlueChart)

CHART EXAMPLE #5:  GPSMAP 743xsv networked to a GPSMAP 1042xsv with a preloaded chart micro/SD card.

    • Regardless of the preloaded  built-in chart that is in either GPSMAP device the "Preloaded Chart on a micro/SD Card" will share across the network to both devices

NOTE: A preloaded Chart on a micro/SD card is defined as a chart that is loaded from Garmin or an authorized Dealer onto a micro/SD card.   Examples include: LakeVu, LakeVu Ultra, US All Canadian West Coast, BlueChart Vision, or Standard Mapping chart.  This type of chart is typically purchased from a retailer or downloaded from Garmin Express or ActiveCaptain to supplement the preloaded built-in charts in a device.  They are often referred to as "Supplemental Maps or Charts".
