Routing around Traffic on an Automotive Device

The Optimize Route setting provides a choice for how a device will respond when encountering a traffic incident.

Devices that Include Traffic Alerts can Choose one of the Following Settings:

• On Request - In the event of a traffic incident, an on-screen prompt will appear offering the ability to route around the delay, if one can be found using the device's navigation settings.

• Automatic - The device will automatically calculate an alternative route if it will save sufficient time. The device will only automatically change the route if the traffic delay is greater than 15 minutes and if the alternate route will save more than 15 minutes.

To Change the Optimize Route Settings:

• On some devices, this setting may only be changed while the device is connected to a vehicle with the included traffic receiver/vehicle power cable.

   2. Touch Traffic
   3. Touch Optimize Route
   4. Select On Request or Automatic
   5. Touch Save
      • Some devices skip this step

Once the preferred option is saved, the device will respond accordingly when encountering a traffic incident. With either setting, the device will automatically calculate a new route if a road closure is detected.

To Choose an Alternate Route: 

• An alternate route option may appear if there is traffic on your route.

1. Select Live Traffic on the map screen 

2. Touch Save: 5 min, for example

3. Select Faster Route

4. Select Go! to take the alternate route

Traffic Examples:

• No traffic reported ahead.

• There is construction on the road. 

• One or more lanes are closed.
