What Is the Obstacle Racing Activity Profile?

The Obstacle Racing activity type found on select Garmin® watches is designed for race events that incorporate obstacles. Obstacle Racing events feature run and obstacle portions where you compete to finish a designated course. These races can include running, swimming, and a variety of obstacles.

Recording an Activity

Data screen background color will be white when viewed during a run, and black if viewed during an obstacle. 

NOTE: You may need to add the Obstacle Race activity to your activity list. For instructions on adding an activity, see How to Add an Activity on a Garmin Outdoor Watch or refer to your owner's manual.

  1. Press GPS or START/STOP.
  2. Select Obstacle Racing.
  3. Press GPS or START/STOP to start recording. 
    • To start the obstacle timer, press SET.
      NOTE: If a loop is detected, obstacles on subsequent loops will detect and transition automatically, based on the GPS location from the first loop.
    • After completing an obstacle, press SET to transition back to a Run.
  4. Press GPS or START/STOP to stop the activity.
