Using the Break Planning Feature on a dēzl Device

Note: The Break Planning feature is not an approved substitute for logbook recording requirements under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. A Garmin eLog™ compliant Electronic Logging Device (ELD), when integrated with your dēzl device, will allow a motor carrier to comply with Hours of Service (HOS) logging and break requirements. For more information, visit garmin.com/eLog.

The Break Planning feature will notify you if you have approached the maximum number of drive hours on your route. The Break Planning feature will suggest adding a stop to the route to prevent an Hours of Service (HOS) violation.

Your device must be in the Truck usage mode to use this feature. See the owner's manual for instructions to change the usage mode.

To Enable/Disable the Break Planning Feature:

  1. Touch Settings
  2. Touch Navigation
    • Touch Route Preferences after this step on the dēzl™ 780 and dēzlCam™ 785 GPS navigators
  3. Touch the checkbox or move the circle next to Break Planning

The Break Planning feature is now enabled/disabled on your device.

The device will show a list of suggested Points of Interest (POIs) along your route where you can take a break when a HOS stop is required. Select one of these POIs to add it as the next stop on your route.
