Calibrating the Compass on the Geko 301

The electronic compass must be calibrated (away from metal objects) when you first use the Geko™ 301 outdoor handheld and after each time new batteries have been installed. 

Calibrating the Compass

  1. Press the PAGE button to access the Menu Page.

  2. Press the UP or DOWN button to highlight 'calibrate' on-screen and press the OK button to display the Calibration menu. 
  3. Highlight the 'Compass' option and then press the OK button.
  4. Slowly turn two full circles in the same direction while holding the device level. 
    NOTE: To keep level while rotating, it is recommended to place the Geko 301 handheld on a flat surface.
  5.  Press the OK button to activate the 'Start' button. The screen will prompt you to "Turn Slowly". Keep the unit level and begin to rotate. A 'Just Right' message will display when you are turning at the proper rate. If you turn it too slowly or too fast a "Too Slow" or "Too Fast" message will appear.

  6. When the "Calibration Successful" message appears, press the OK button to accep the calibration. If a "Calibration Failed" message appears, press the OK button to restart the calibration.
