Installing Batteries in the Monterra
Instructions for installing the battery or batteries in the Monterra™ outdoor handheld are listed below and depend on the type of battery being installed.
IMPORTANT: Alkaline batteries lose a significant amount of their capacity as the temperature decreases. Use lithium batteries when operating the device in below freezing conditions.
Installing Lithium Ion Battery Pack
- Turn the D-Ring counter-clockwise, and pull up to remove the cover.
- Locate the metal contacts on the end of the lithium-ion battery.
- Insert the battery into the compartment, contacts first.
- Press the battery into place.
- Replace the battery cover. and turn the D-ring clockwise.
Installing AA Batteries
Instead of the battery pack, you can use alkaline, NIMH, or lithium AA batteries. This is useful when you are on the trail and cannot charge the battery pack. Use NIMH or lithium batteries for best results.
NOTE: Standard alkaline batteries are not recommended when using the camera feature.
- Turn the D-Ring counter-clockwise, and pull up to remove the cover.
- Insert three AA batteries, observing polarity.
- Replace the battery cover, and turn the D-Ring clockwise.
