Garmin Speak and Garmin Speak Plus Mapping

Important: The Garmin Speak App has been replaced by the Garmin Drive App. To continue using the Garmin Speak along with more enhanced benefits, please visit the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) to download the Garmin Drive App.

When providing navigation information, including directions and Point of Interest (POI) locations, Garmin Speak and Garmin Speak Plus use mapping information provided by HERE.

The Garmin Speak and the Garmin Speak Plus do not contain onboard mapping, meaning that navigational searches require data connectivity to start a route. Once the route has been calculated, the device does not require a data connection to give turn-by-turn directions. However, if you deviate from the route while there is no network connectivity, the device may not be able to calculate a new route until data is restored.

The Garmin Drive App will display a preview map (see below) when Alexa is instructed to find or navigate to a location. This menu uses your phone's default mapping app (Google Maps, Apple Maps, etc.) for preview purposes. Your phone's default mapping app is not, and cannot, be used for navigation with Garmin Speak or Garmin Speak Plus.
